Veterans Day, The Source of Our Freedom
"it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
-Father Dennis Edward O'brien, USMC
We at Show Me Shooters Indoor Range find these words extremely meaningful, especially during these times of extreme political decisiveness, because you see the soldier doesn't care what your party affiliation is, your politics or your beliefs, they fight for your freedom regardless. Many people today with the advent of social media find is easier to denigrate someone who doesn't believe the same way they do. They cannot find the line between acceptable behavior and unacceptable behavior. There are people who believe it is OK to mob people outside of their work, who don't agree with their beliefs or to burn, destroy or terrorize so that someone cannot speak at a certain place. These same people believe that any means is OK, even when it means crossing the line between acceptable demonstration and terrorism. Who can they thank for the ability to do so? The Soldier...
On this Veterans Day Holiday and every other day of the year, we want to say, not thank you for your service, not thank you for your sacrifice, which have become popular catch phrases today, but rather we would like to tell all Veterans, no matter what your service or sacrifice, that we thank you for providing our families and us with the safety and freedom we enjoy everyday, a debt we will never be able to repay, and that we will NEVER FORGET that it was you veterans that provided it for us! All the best,
Show Me Shooters Indoor Range
